🖤 Meet Mayo 🖤
Learning how good life can be.
At only one year old, Mayo has already had a pretty tough start.
She was found living behind a dumpster, unwell and covered in fleas. Thankfully, she allowed a kind person to catch her and take her to a vet. With the local pound already full and Mayo unlikely to cope in that environment, FFAR was contacted and this little girl got her second chance.
Everyone who has met Mayo believes she was once someone’s pet. Sadly, somewhere along the way, she appears to have been dumped or abandoned. So while Mayo knows humans can be lovely, she’s still figuring out whether she can completely trust that they’ll stick around.
💕 And that makes Mayo a bit of a beautiful contradiction.
Some days she’s shy and cautious. Other days her affectionate side appears and she’ll happily accept pats and attention. She loves to play, especially with her wand toys, and creamy treats are definitely one way to Mayo’s heart!
Mayo is still learning how to cat in a home. She’s happy around other friendly cats as long as they respect her boundaries. If she’s had enough, she’ll let them know with a little smack, but without claws or genuine aggression. She’s simply very good at saying, “Okay mate, personal space please.”
She needs a patient home that won’t expect too much too quickly. Someone willing to let Mayo settle, build confidence and discover that being loved and safe is now her normal.
🏡 Mayo will need to be indoor only, and we should probably mention that she’s a clever little escape-room enthusiast. Doors and windows are puzzles Mayo believes were specifically designed for her to solve, so her new family will need to be security conscious! A fully secure outdoor cat enclosure would be a fantastic bonus.
🐾 Mayo’s perfect home:
• Patient and understanding humans
• A quieter environment where she can continue building confidence
• Friendly cats are welcome, provided they respect her space
• People who understand cat body language and know when she’s had enough
• Secure indoor living, with a secure catio or cat run a big bonus
• Plenty of play, treats and time to blossom
Mayo isn’t the kitten who will necessarily throw herself into your arms on day one. She’s the girl who will make you earn her trust a little bit.
And when you remember where her story began, watching her realise she is finally safe will be pretty special. 🖤
