Female Dog aged 25 weeks.
Equal parts cuddle bug, curious explorer and tiny opinionated sidekick, Romi has a lot to say and even more love to give.
Romi is a young Vada’s Special™ — which is the rescue’s very scientific way of saying nobody has the faintest idea what breeds went into making her.
Whatever the combination, it gave her enormous puppy-dog eyes, a little pink freckle on her nose, floppy ears and a set of long legs she's still figuring out how to coordinate.
It also gave her an enormous amount of affection.
Romi absolutely loves her people. She's incredibly soft, ridiculously cuddly and happiest when she's somewhere close to a human.
Beside the fire? Perfect.
On the couch? Absolutely.
At your feet? That'll do.
Your lap when you were planning on getting something done? Even better.
But don't mistake all that sweetness for a quiet little wallflower. Romi is confident, curious and full of puppy personality — and she's certainly not afraid to voice her opinion when she feels the situation calls for it.
Apparently, humans occasionally have things to do that don't involve Romi.
She's lodged a formal complaint. 😂
Living With Romi:
Romi is currently getting a fantastic introduction to family life and has settled beautifully into her foster home.
She lives with three other dogs and absolutely loves their company. She's playful and social with them, so another friendly dog could be a great match in her future home.
She's also great with children and loves being part of whatever her humans are doing.
Cats are still a bit of an unknown. There is a resident cat in her foster home, but unfortunately the cat has made it quite clear that participating in Romi's social assessment is not part of its job description. So while they're technically sharing a home, we wouldn't call Romi properly cat tested just yet.
She's also been around chickens and is curious about them without causing any drama so far. As she grows, continued supervision and appropriate training around them will still be important.
Mostly, though, Romi just wants to be involved.
Whether that's playing with her doggy friends, investigating something new or curling up beside her humans after a busy day, she's happiest when she feels like part of the family.
Romi's Perfect Home:
Romi would be a beautiful match for a family looking for an affectionate, confident puppy who'll genuinely become part of everyday life.
She'd love people who want their dog around — joining in with family outings, hanging out at home and generally being included in whatever the day brings.
Another friendly dog could be a wonderful bonus, particularly because Romi already enjoys canine company so much.
She's also proving to be a lovely little family dog and is doing really well around children.
Her biggest requirement is a family ready to make the commitment that comes with raising a puppy. She'll need ongoing training, positive socialisation, boundaries and plenty of opportunities to learn about the world.
And preferably someone who doesn't mind having a little shadow following them around the house.
A Few Things to Know:
For such a young puppy, Romi is already making brilliant progress.
She's almost fully toilet trained and currently gets outside around 95% of the time. If her humans happen to miss her cue and she's desperate, she's even figured out that a puppy pad is the next best option.
She's clever, confident and eager to learn, but she's still a baby.
There will be puppy mischief, chewing, muddy paws and moments where those long legs appear to be operating entirely independently of one another.
She's also very people-oriented and forms strong attachments, so it's important that her future family continues helping her develop confidence and independence alongside all those lovely cuddles.
Because as much as Romi would probably vote for 24/7 human companionship, learning that her people can occasionally do things without her is part of growing up too.
Romi's Future:
Romi has so many of the qualities people hope to find in a family dog.
She's affectionate, confident, social, clever and already showing just how much she loves being part of a home.
She's the puppy who'll happily race around playing with her doggy mates, investigate whatever has caught her attention and then come looking for her humans when it's time to settle down.
And while we have absolutely no idea what breeds are hiding behind those floppy ears, we do know what kind of little dog is underneath them.
A very loving one.
With a family willing to put the time into her puppy years, Romi has every opportunity to grow into a wonderful companion.
💕 For now, though, she has cuddles to collect, long legs to master... and several strongly worded complaints to make about the current distribution of attention. 😂
